The President of the Philippines, President Rodrigo Duterte, has just delivered his 3rd State Of the Nation Address on July 23, 2018. The SONA, which is often broadcast, serves as a means to inform the nation about its present economic, political, and social condition. It is also a vehicle for the President to summarize the accomplishments and plans of his/her programmed of government both for a particular year and until the end of their term of office.
The President’s State of the Nation Address was shown to be just parts of his past achievements, stating the present situation and announcing future prospects. In his 3rd SONA, he broke the tradition of highlighting the administration's previous year accomplishments. President Duterte focused on desire for genuine and meaningful change for the people. He presented the administration's present activities and the future plans. He highlighted that the war from illegal drugs is far from over and will not be sidelined, instead, it will be as relentless and chilling. That being said, the war on drugs will never come to an end unless The President can do something to resolve it. On the Marawi siege, President Duterte recognized soldiers and police who died fighting for the city. He said that government welcomes with open arms the terrorists who surrender to authorities.
While there's a lot of conflicts and issues that need to be resolved, Filipinos are somewhat hopefull that President Duterte will deliver these changes to make the country better during the cuorse of his presidency.
